The client

Higher Purpose Homes is a prefab framing company based in Bayfield, Colorado, serving builders, developers, and owner-builders across the Four Corners and the wider Southwest. Their process frames a home off-site while the foundation sets, so projects dry in faster with less waste and lower carrying costs. It is a genuinely differentiated offer, in a region where skilled framers are scarce and every week of schedule matters.

The challenge

The business came to us with a brand-new website and effectively no organic footprint. In Google Search Console their pages sat at an average position of 36.8, roughly the fourth page of results, where almost nobody clicks. They were invisible for the searches their real buyers were making, and competing for attention against national directories and larger, established builders. The goal was clear: build search visibility from scratch and turn it into qualified enquiries.

What we did

We built and executed a complete local SEO program from the ground up, strategy, technical foundation, content, and off-site authority, sequenced so each layer reinforced the next.

1. Competitive analysis & keyword strategy

We mapped the competitive landscape and, crucially, identified the winnable niche. Rather than chase an unwinnable statewide term like “prefab company in Colorado,” we targeted the high-intent searches their actual buyers use: prefab framing across the Four Corners, Durango, and the Southwest. This intent-first keyword mapping is the core of our SEO strategy and reporting.

2. Content strategy & a full content plan

We built a topical-authority content plan around the questions buyers actually ask, prefab versus traditional stick-built, real cost comparisons, help for remote owner-builders, and how digital design keeps framing accurate. Depth on one subject is what signals expertise to Google, and it is how we approach content writing.

3. Location & city pages for every target market

We built genuinely useful, distinct pages for each service area they cover, not thin copies with the city swapped, so they could rank across their whole coverage map instead of just their home base. This is the same playbook we use for local visibility in local SEO.

4. Google Business Profile optimization

We fully optimized their Google Business Profile, accurate categories, services, and service areas, so they could compete in the local map pack where high-intent, ready-to-build searchers look first.

5. Local citations & consistent NAP

We built consistent local citations across reputable directories, aligning their name, address, and phone number everywhere. Consistency is what lets Google trust a business is real and where it says it is, a direct local ranking signal.

6. Link building & domain authority

We earned links from relevant, authoritative websites to grow their domain authority and the trust behind every page. This off-site work, part of our link-building service, is what let a brand-new site start outranking older competitors.

7. Technical & on-page SEO

We fixed the technical foundation, crawlability, indexation, site structure, page speed, and structured data, then optimized every page on-page for its target intent. Clean technical SEO and disciplined on-page SEO made the whole site legible to both Google and AI search.

The strategy wasn’t to rank for everything. It was to own the specific, high-intent searches their buyers actually make, and to build the authority to defend those rankings.

The results

Comparing two consecutive quarters in Google Search Console, the program moved every metric that matters, in roughly six months:

  • Organic clicks doubled, from 94 to 189 (+101%).
  • Impressions grew 76.5%, from 3.49K to 6.16K, as the site started surfacing for far more searches.
  • Average position climbed from 36.8 to 11.7, from the fourth page of Google to the top of the results.
  • Click-through rate rose from 2.7% to 3.1%, as stronger titles and rankings earned more of every impression.

Owning the niche, and AI search

The headline numbers are only half the story. Today Higher Purpose Homes ranks at the top of Google for its real niche, prefab framing across the Four Corners, Durango, and the Southwest, often holding multiple first-page results for a single search. That momentum carried into new markets, with dedicated pages now serving Utah and Arizona, and into earned press, including a feature in the Colorado Sun.

Because AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews draw from the same trusted, well-ranked web, this is exactly the foundation that gets a business named in AI-generated answers, the discipline we cover in our AI marketing work and in how to get your business recommended by ChatGPT and AI search.
